St. Francis of Assisi and the Search for a Simple Life

99 Things Worth Knowing

St. Francis of Assisi is one of the most significant figures of the Middle Ages. His radical renunciation of possessions and status was part of a poverty movement that profoundly changed the church and society. This book combines fascinating historical contexts with the timeless question of the simple life: What does renunciation mean – back then and now? And why can especially the return to what is essential give us new freedom? This is an inspiring look at Francis von Assisi as a person, founder of a religious order and guide.
