The God Who Renews

Experiences of Hope and Freedom

Annette Schavan brings the Bible and the present into a conversation with each other. In key texts of the Old and the New Testament, she discovers models for dealing with the questions that life continues to ask. Especially Jesus` message that God has once and for all embraced human beings changes how people see their own lives, their contemporaries and the world. The Holy Scripture also tells of individuals who found courage in their faith to change themselves, actively shape the world around them and approach other people with a new openness. As a believing Christian, Annette Schavan also interprets contemporary events of the church and politics as experiences of the God who became a man in order to be close to human beings. In various areas of life, she shows examples of how that certainty of God`s closeness is still reliable and powerful to this day.
