Conspiracy Myths

Their Origin, What They Can Do and How We Can Counter them

Was the Covid-19 pandemic orchestrated by Bill Gates so that human beings could have nanochips injected into them with the vaccine? Are kidnapped children being tortured in secret underground factories to obtain the drug adrenochrome? Is this all part of a grand Jewish conspiracy to take over the world? The internet und social media are overflowing with abstruse speculations that are shared millions of times. Even informed people consider delusions to be established findings. Many people drift into a fantasy world full of fear. The use of artificial intelligence exacerbates the problem enormously. Are we at the mercy of bots and fake news?

Michael Blume analyses the cultural-historical and psychological background, the reason why such myths exist, how they “work” and what role artificial intelligence now plays in these situations. He gives advice on how readers can deal with people who believe in conspiracies – and still keep a cool head.
